There are many ways to approach and interpret Celtic music. Many paths, each interesting and appropriate. In order to choose and to understand, I preferred to tap into my sensibility, my emotions; in this way I avoided a purely folk interpretation, creating something different. But what did I create?
Here is the challenge, the desire... I mingled the Celtic and Northern repertoire together with pieces from the Medieval European and Renaissance tradition, adding two pop songs, "Annarella" by Cccp and "Savage" by Eurythmics. I didn't want to create a collection of famous Celtic pieces, instead I took pleasure in the making of a truly artistic "album". Do you remember vinyl albums?
The invisible thread that connects all the pieces is surely the melody; but I intended to recall traditional and ancient musics from the past as if the centuries had forged those notes in gold and silver, making them clear, well-defined and persuasive, with a touch of arcane and mystery character. This is my interpretation.
I also desired to emphasize the marvelous traits of my Celtic harp Silmaril, crafted by Frank Sievert, an harp maker from Schnega.
